State of the [web] industry – 2012 Summer Edition

If you are a web developer or designer you have a lot to keep up to date with, be it links on twitter or smashing network posts their is always something new to learn. Technology is rapidly changing and the difference between having a job and not can be measured in how fast you can keep pace. In that spirit I give you an unorganized list that is in no particular order. Leave comments with your own suggestions!

Here is what I have mainly been absorbing into my cranium for the past year:

1) FuelPHP for quick CRUD!

2) DevOps; Varnish, nginx, redis, APC, memcache, apache, git, the cloud.

3) JavaScript with mustache & other templating languages.

4) Sublime Text 2 replaces TextMate as my new favorite osx text editor

What the future looks like as of yet:

1) JavaScript! Especially mobile & node.js

2) noSQL & local databases

3) responsive design; mobile first, goldilocks, (hopefully) finding a solution for images
